For this, the owner and chef Juan Mari Arzak received the Universal Basque Award for adapting gastronomy, one of the most important traditions of the Basque Country, to the new times and making it one of the most innovative in the world. If you want to check this, you are very welcome in the Arzak restaurant, which has been open again since May 27, 2021.

The house was built in the village of Alza in 1897 by the grandparents of the current owner, José Maria Arzak Etxabe and Escolastica Lete. Today Alza belongs to Donostia and the house has long been a wine and tavern. In the kitchen, Juan Mari Arzak and his daughter Elena Arzak share the work and the two are not alone. Incidentally, there were three Michelin stars as early as 1989.
