Berlin, Germany (Gastrosofie). The Doppio Passo Bella Vita 6% was unveiled for the first time at ProWein in Düsseldorf in mid-March 2026. From the beginning of April 2026, the Doppio Passo Bella Vita 6% will also be available in shops across Germany. Alongside the Doppio Passo Bella Vita Bianco 6 the Doppio Passo Bella Vita Rosso 6 – and thus also a reduced-alcohol red wine from the Doppio Passo brand – is set to go on sale.

One might wish to enjoy not only a low-alcohol white wine, but also this Doppio Passo Bella Vita Rosso 6, where the ‘6’ stands for an alcohol content of 6% ABV. That is indeed very low, yet the aroma is nonetheless delicate and balanced, indeed, at times elegant for wines with reduced alcohol content. According to the producer, this is achieved through gentle dealcoholisation followed by harmonious blending and subtle sweetening.

The Doppio Passo Bella Vita Rosso 6 does not represent a full-bodied, heavy wine; there is no trace of bitter or astringency, but rather a youthful and soft lightness that nevertheless reveals notes of cherry, plum and dark berries with a hint of vanilla to the palate. Those seeking complexity, tannins and bite will be disappointed. Those seeking softness and silkiness, however, will find what they are looking for in the Doppio Passo Bella Vita Rosso 6.

It is less suited to hearty dishes, but ideal for lighter fare and, in summer, as an aperitif with antipasti. A serving temperature of 16 °C to 18 °C seems appropriate for this red wine.

In addition to the aforementioned alcohol content of approx. 6.0% vol., the producer states the residual sugar as approx. 38 g/l and the total acidity as approx. 5.7 g/l. A Doppio Passo Bella Vita Rosso 6 is therefore anything but bone-dry. However, this total acidity is considered classic. The residual sugar and acidity in this blend have been sensorially tailored for enjoyment. It offers plenty of flavour despite a lower alcohol content and could therefore be right on trend.
