Berlin, Germany (Gastrosofie). A well-chilled bottle of Doppio Passo Bella Vita Bianco unscrewed and poured into white wine glasses. Cheers!
Cheers? Well, first things first. The serving temperature for the Doppio Passo Bella Vita Bianco, with an alcohol content of a mere 6% ABV, should be between 6°C and 8°C. That’s why a fridge is the ideal place to chill this white wine from the Doppio Passo brand.
Incidentally, Doppio Passo was founded in 1928 by Maria and Carlo Botter as a family business. What began small grew and grew. Quality wines are now available in over 50 countries around the world. According to the company, the joint venture Doppio Passo S.R.L. between Argea SPA Group and Rotkäppchen-Mumm Sektkellereien GmbH has been in existence since September 2020.
The chill does not detract from the fruitiness of the Doppio Passo Bella Vita Bianco. Fruity notes and lightness are the attributes that define this white wine. Citrus aromas dominate – no question about it – yet notes of apple and pear come through.
In addition to the aforementioned alcohol content of approx. 6.0% vol., there is a residual sugar content of approx. 30 g/l and a total acidity of approx. 5.4 g/l. That is perhaps a little low, as a white wine may have a total acidity of at least 6 g/l and up to 9 g/l, particularly a Riesling or a Champagne, I would say. The fact that it may be slightly lower for a very young, indeed at times youthful, and – as far as I’m concerned – even very old drinkers, is perfectly fine and fits the description, which states that the Doppio Passo Bella Vita Bianco lends ‘a bright note and a delicate depth to every sip’ and ensures it is ‘light and refreshing … for uncomplicated, invigorating enjoyment’.
The fact that ‘this partially de-alcoholised wine’ nevertheless offers ‘full flavour with less alcohol’ seems to be a perfect drinking experience – and thus a trend – for more people than ever.
A Doppio Passo Bella Vita Bianco is ideal as an aperitivo, also known as an aperitif, and also pairs well with salads and meat dishes (white meat), particularly poultry and fish. Cheers!
