Berlin, Germany (Gastrosofie). No celebration without a legend among red wines, i.e. no celebration without a Tignanello from the House of Antinori. Connoisseurs and critics know that this wine was „the first Sangiovese“ to be „refined in barrique“. What’s more, it was „the first modern red wine made from non-traditional grape varieties (including Cabernet) and one of the first red wines from Chianti to which no white grape varieties were added“.

In other and further words on the home page Antinori.it in the world network: „Tignanello is a milestone in the history of wine. The wine is made from a selection of Sangiovese, Cabernet Sauvignon and Cabernet Franc grapes.“

Now „the birth of the Super Tuscan“ can be celebrated, as pointed out in a Waldburg PR press release dated 20 February 2024. It states that „this new creation by Piero Antinori … with its elegant, complex and at the same time accessible composition convinces wine lovers all over the world“. „This year marks the 50th anniversary of Tignanello, without which Tuscany and the Chianti Classico region would probably be quite insignificant today. Tanti auguri!“

So let’s raise a toast and drink a Tignanello in the heart of Chianti Classico!
