Berlin, Germany (Gastrosofie). With the remark that the wine list is considerable and the recommendation profound, our first part of the series on the Il Calice at Walter-Benjamin-Platz in Berlin-Charlottenburg with the title The gourmet restaurant came to an end. Now then a few sentences to the wonderful wine bar, which is already a feast for the eyes. The bar is circular and includes a luminous pillar that has lovely bottles in many exquisite shapes with delightful content. On and around are two or three handfuls of stools with a good square-practical seat for the guest, which, like the counter, is made of high-quality wood. This wine bar offers a sophisticated ambience for casual meetings with like-minded people or informal conversations with business partners.
Vermouth and very fine wine
And the bar offers spiritual drinks. What about a flavoured and fortified wine with spices and herbs that has a prescribed alcohol content of between 14.5 and 21.9% alcohol by volume and varying levels of sugar content? If so, then just order a white or red vermouth. Sparkling wine or N / A Champagne Brut Reserve – Charles Heidsieck Champagne we all know and enjoy, right? As for aperitivo there are also Negroni-Tanqueray, Cocchi, Campari to choose from, or it is wine from the beginning.
For example, a 2016 Chardonnay St. Valentine – St. Michael Eppan Alto Adige can be recommended or a Sassela Riserva – Balgera Lombardia. Rarities like a 2014 Sassicaia – San Guido Toscana for 52 euros the 0.1-liter glass or a 2015 Chardonnay Gaja & Rey – Gaja Piemonte for 50 euros the 0.1-liter glass are not just on the wine list – they are served with great pleasure and distinction by the waiters.©
Jazz nights
At the high tables and at the bar, starting at 4 pm, the antipasti, well known in Il Calice, fresh oysters and hearty soups and pasta are served.
This fine flair can be enjoyed by wine-lovers with live jazz every Thursday evening from 7:30 pm.
